Need a new appliance? Now’s the time to cash in on the Cash for Clunker Appliances. The federal government with cooperation from states have a program where you can cash in on old appliances when you buy new Energy Star appliances. Best of all, you don’t even have to trade in your old clunker. Just buy have the retailer pick it up as usual.
What is it?
$300 million federally funded State program. Individual states are responsible for drafting program requirements. Funds currently available for over 25 states. Program expires in 2012. States have mail in rebate forms. Qualifying appliances vary by state.
What does it Cover?
- Dishwashers
- Refrigerators
- Freezers
- Heating and Cooling systems such as heat pumps, furnaces and geothermal
- Washers
- Dryers
- Water heaters
How Much do I get?
Rebates range from $50 to $500 dollars.
